This Weather

Another coastal storm arrived from the mid-Atlantic states this weekend bringing with it an additional inch or so of rain on top of an already very wet spring.  Portland Water District reports that the water level of Sebago Lake is the highest they have ever recorded. The high water doesn't effect Migis very much but it sure would be nice to experience a  little more sunshine. Unfortunately, the forecast is for the weather to stay unsettled with another storm arriving Tuesday.  Of course all this means that we are simply getting our share of rain now so that we and all of our Migis guests can be guaranteed a spectacular, warm, dry, gorgeous summer and fall.  In the meantime, sitting by the fireplace enjoying the Sunday New York Times and ocasionally hearing the loons on Sebago is not too shabby.

Cool Mornings and Hot Coffee

Yet another beautiful morning here on Sebago Lake.  It's 6:30 am, and we've just finished sending off another group of hopeful fishermen.  They're heading off in search of the famous landlocked salmon, with gear in one hand and steaming hot coffee and fresh pastries in the other.  The lake is dead calm this morning, but alive with the reflections of the shore.  The sun coming up over the Main Lodge behind me casts stripes of dark and light on the tall pines that surround the front terrace.  We saw two fish rise and break the water's surface this morning.  These two fish and a diving loon (equally as excited as the fishermen by the prospect of a morning catch) are the only disturbances to break the steady shimmering of Sebago this morning.  Good luck to the fishermen...be patient...and know that the warmth of the fireplaces in the Main Lodge and your cabins awaits your return.
